le café des langues

Last night, by chance, i went to le café des langues, au palais à Jean Jaurès.
I say by chance as i had heard about it from the local information centre but did not know it would be on yesterday.
I met several french people, 1 german, 1 brit, 1 american and several french who only spoke in sign, (french sign language, but i dont speak the english version anyway so it doesn't really matter either way). It's great to see such a wide range of people communicating in so many different ways.
I shall go back next week of course.
The brit invited me for lunch today, we met up and discussed ways in which to meet others when one is rather isolated, lovely guy, loves to talk about everything possibly more candid than I, rather random but very friendly.
My first alliegance outside school although a collegue took me out on friday, quite spontaneous but we ended up at his partners bar, few women are allowed in but i was invited in and shock him with my experience of cointreau!!!!
People have been good to me this week, anyway, must dash or i'll be chucked out.

Abeille à Bordeaux

On the friday before I left for Bordeaux I went to a spanish bar ( a charismatic place which cannot play music since "racist" neibours complained about the culture.) I discovered a cherry beer i quite enjoy and plan to go back; despite a lack of music!

On the Saturday I went to a Hip hop concert in my local area! not my thing really but i met some cleeky ados and understood a lot of the word on the street. A brisk walk home from les HLMs for a lonesome fille.

On sunday the 15th I went south to Bordeaux and stayed with Grace for 3 nights. On the first night, the whole crew, (Grace, Ellie, Nicola, Emma, Bobby, Martin and Ryan) took me to an English bar in the centre of Bordeaux and we partook in a pub quiz- Maggie girls be proud. We didn't do very well but I enjoyed it all the same.
On the second day, Grace took me to les mirroirs des quais and i ate a croque madame for lunch in a small restaurant, (a croque monsieur with an egg on top!).
The halls in Bordeaux need a strong stomache; well done to those that live there, except those that are responsible for their poor state.
On tuesday we climbed the Pey Berland, Grace got all gooey over the children in town.
I loved the architecture of Bordeaux; the beautifully positioned 4/5 story balconies on buildings of amazingly irregular dimensions, to the sleek 21st century tramway and public areas. I think these two aspects work well however different they may be.
On wednesday I began my journey back to Tours. We rushed to catch the train and i was off to Angouleme to meet Gemma; I spent a lovely afternoon down memory lane as i relived what little i remembered of my exchange there.
Unfortunately I shaln't be going to Nantes for another 2 weeks so bring on the hard studying and assignment preparation.

I am writing letters in French so if you can read French let me know.
Everyone on their way to Africa, I am thinking of you.
I am looking forward to school for the 1st time in my life! much love to all

I have a petite studio

I moved into a little studio tonight so no worrys about les SDF! €250 a month
I am a little emotional but hey i will be fine.
Started work today, the teachers are lovely and very welcoming. I started crying today so the guy i met on the first night who said girls cannot be alone because they cry is actually right- no i joke, i just cant stop crying.
I plan to leave Tours for a week this friday/sat
I am missing everyone more than i have before. But hey you know, i ll have new friends so i ll forget you all soon. ;)
I suppose visitors are still always welcome, theres room!
Oh miss Arren, jai dit aujourdui "moi non plus" it means me neither-dur but i explained why i said it and the english teachers said the bridgette was joking!
Day off tomorrow so lets check out the shops!

I have finally arrived!

My trip commences and my first night in Tours has arrived, I had a bearable journey, the youth hostel is bearable but i found the receptionist a real pain, not very friendly at all! But i shouldn't complain it is cheap
My Lap top is at home as i discovered it was faulty, this added to the drama last night.
As for the city by night i am very impressed, very historic and rather cultural.
